I’ve been having such a fascination with accessories/adornments. But before I get into it, I spent a day with a friend named Melody. We decided to spend a day just having a bit of fun with the camera and here are some of the pictures that were taken. Our concept was “New World.” The idea of being aware to our surroundings, connecting with Earth and ones self. We were definitely influenced by the story of Pocahontas and her arrival in England. From being heavily surrounded by Earth in its natural state to suddenly being plunged into a “Civilisation.” These pictures were taken at the River Thames on a low tide. I was really saddened to see all the waste that was washed up, it was so heartbreaking, we must try to be aware of the environment that we live in. The Earth is a beautiful place to live in, this is our home, we must take care of it.
Here are the images. I’ve really been inspired by African, Native American and I like to add an Eastern Asian twist to it. The things I’ve picked and made aren’t as extravagant and beautiful as the traditional accessories but I tried! The top image displays four ear cuffs, which were on sale at TopShop fo £3.50. They do have plain ones for £2.50 but I bought this set because the hooks that the charms are connected too would be useful if I wanted to customise them. I did customise one of them adding a long chain with a feather attached to it (which can be seen on the first image taken on this post.) On the bottom right, the first bracelet was given to me as a gift from Ghana, the middle bracelet was made by myself, adding carved beads with Chinoiserie porcelain beads and the final bracelet is a wooden bracelet from Philippines! The next image are two necklaces I made with thin leather and I like to wear them bunched together for a layered effect. Finally the last image features a ring covered in a woven strip and gathered feathers chained onto a necklace. What will you be adorning yourself with this summer!?
For the past few months I’ve been inspired by music and self expression but a lot of these paintings were done on impulse. So now I’ve decided, for the next few months, I want to take my time and focus not only expressing a feeling or emotion but on the skill. I want to see how I can develop this style and also explore and develop my own painting skills. As an artist I do feel like there is never a limit, you’re always changing, your art changes as you grow older and experience and see new things. I used to get so drawn back when I saw someone who I felt was better than me but now I’ve realised that you cannot compare art. Everyone is different, everyone has different tastes.
There is no perfect, just better than before.
You can only get better, with your craft. I posted the work I’ve done recently on two separate projects on my BEHANCE … The Empress & The King. Please let me know what you think .
Taylor is a friend of mine and one day, it was miraculously sunny… I say it was a miracle because at the time it was cold and raining EVERY DAY! So we decided to just play around with the camera and have fun with the fish eye lens. Kudos to Taylor for filming and editing, click > HERE < to check out his videos. Music was produced by DJ HUMMER
Here are some photos taken in between filmingI’m wearing the Endure sweater! If you would like to purchase it for £25! Purchase it HERE
We all have dreams, I do believe that some dreams are triggered by things that you see or listen to but I think they definitely have a deeper meaning. I had a dream last night and I tried to draw what I dreamt. My dream:
I dreamt I was walking towards a mirror and I was slowly peeling away clothing, revealing myself to be a robot/android. When I saw myself in the mirror I picked up a screw driver and started unscrewing my face, once removed I wiped the dirt from the face and I compared it to another face and screwed it on.
Here it is, the third and final book written by Ella December and artwork by myself!
This is the third and final book inspired by music, the first being Nostalgia (inspired by Frank Ocean), the second being a play called Blame Game (inspired by Kanye West’s album My beautiful dark twisted fantasy) and finally Take Care (inspired by the works of Drake.)

Last year, I did a bit of tie dyeing and they came out successful , click >here< to check out instructions! I Now it is that time of year where I get excited for spring and summer and start to think about bright colours and since my tees from last year went missing *cough… friends borrowing them and not returning!” I decided to make a new batch. I did a simple spiral pattern where you lay the item of clothing flat on the floor and twist your fingers so that it creates a spiral, gather the edges and tie it with elastic bands and start to tie dye!In my head I had all these colours and patterns but with tie dyeing… It’s always random no matter HOW hard you try, you’re one lucky or skillful person if you manage to get the right colours and the right pattern! The tee with the flamingo pink centre, I originally wanted it to be lime green and light pink… I attempted to mix dyes together and it came out a dark-ish green. The red one I original wanted it to be yellow and orange, but I ended up getting red because my pink dye got onto the tee (since I am a very messy worker!) so I just decided to splash pink, red and yellow onto it. The one in the centre was a more relaxed pattern and the pinkish yellow item is my undies haha… I didn’t want to waste the dye! So here’s how they turned out! What do you think? … All I have to say is that when tie dyeing, whatever fabric is exposed, will be affected by the dye! So don’t ever feel like you are applying too much, I only wish I drenched it in dye because I do feel that there is too much white on the tee! I tend to like my tees oversized with a relaxed fit so I trim the neck, to make a wider mouth. I cut close to the neck, then seal off the seams with a thread and needle…And here we are! ! Hope this will inspire you to recycle those old tees or items of clothing and find new ways of wearing old clothes!
A singer named Vicktor Taiwo released his own rendition of One directions song Kiss you and was then remixed by Tanaka Samuel. I was so inspired by these two talents, that I did an art piece for it! It was then used for the cover art of the remix! Have a look and have a listen, his voice and the remix are amazing!
