Liberty – The power of choice; freedom from necessity; freedom from compulsion or constraint in willing. Freedom from imprisonment, bonds, or other restraint upon locomotion.
When designing this character, I imagined a strong and free woman (hence her name being Liberty) and when you think of freedom, you think of flight, with flight there’s birds, with birds there’s feathers! I wanted her to look extravagant but there would still be simplicity to her design without overdosing on the feathers. I also thought of Greek mythology, particularly on Athena the goddess of wisdom and Hermes who could move freely with his winged sandals and helmet. I decided to give her a cape that would cover her right arm and it would be filled with feathers whenever she revealed the lining of the cape. All she has to cover her is a sheen cloth covering her body, held together by a rope. Her shoes were inspired by Hermes sandals, the beak of a bird is placed on the toe box and she wears a winged ear ring with chains on her left ear.
