Mikey Espinosa – Watercolour portraits (practice)

I haven’t painted in a while and I was getting a little worried I had forgotten how to hold onto a brush and look at detail and paint. I decided to use watercolour because I like the flow of the control you have when it comes to controlling the brush.

I feel like my brush strokes are expressive, but I’m envious of the people who can do photo realistic paintings! Every time I see people who do that, it pushes me to practice and practice, but I just can’t do it!

Maybe it’s because I’m not the patient type!

I guess it’s obvious I got a little lazy towards the end, I think I need to work a little harder on the facial features and their proportions, some of the portraits aren’t recognisable :(…

They were all painted on A4 sheets of paper

I hope you like them though! 🙂
