Mikey Espinosa – The miserable

It feels like I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve just been going through a lot of things and I’ve been really busy. I guess it’s also that time of the year so everyone must be busy preparing for Christmas and New years.

I’m really looking forward to the film les miserables, for those of you who don’t know, it is a musical based on a book written by Victor Hugo and it’s a beautiful story. I haven’t seen it in the theatres, I’ve attempted to read the book (slowly getting there, it’s a hefty book as it’s in volumes!) but I do know the songs. The songs featured allow you to really understand what the characters go through and can somewhat be relatable. I was really inspired by this.

In our lives we do sometimes end up in what feels like rock bottom. I personally think one of the worst emotions to feel is loneliness and loss. It’s like an empty part of you that wants to be filled. It’s something you crave once you’ve felt it. You feel broken and when you build yourself again, you’re building yourself with different pieces. It’s an emotional pain that only you can try to fix.

I think that a lot of peoples pride gets in the way and a lot of people find it hard to express themselves and in the end suppress these feelings which only worsen things. ” I dreamed a dream ” and ” On my own ” are beautiful songs which express loneliness, sadness, wishfulness and sacrifice for a loved one and I think that’s why these songs have touched so many people. Everyone feels those things…

So I did a few ink paintings and here they are.IMG_5957 IMG_5960 IMG_5967
