The weather is getting colder again and my Endure sweaters are back! My model Junoh is 6ft 4 and wears an XL sweater. Available at www.mikeyespinosa.bigcartel.com ! The T-shirt is associated with my latest Fairy Tale book “O&Love“
Cian, a fantasy world ruled by twin goddesses Laufeia and Perpetua. The story will follow the worlds people and how they are affected by the actions of the goddess. I’ve already released the prologue which is free to read!
Incase you haven’t read my comic! Please click here > CIAN <The first ever image I created of Perpetua (but at this point she was nameless). The colour and combinations stuck in my head and I felt that the figure looked mysterious and ethereal and would like to use this design. I always knew I wanted to create a comic, I had characters in mind but there was no official drive within the story until I decided that Perpetua would be in the story.
Make sure you read the Prologue! It’s only the beginning!
A fantasy story of Twin Goddesses Laufeia and Perpetua and how the paths they have chosen will affect the people of CIAN!
If you like story telling, fantasy, art or comics. Please have a read and let me know what you think!

First doodle/drawing/painting I’ve done this year that isn’t linked to a project or anything! I decided to go over my technique and evaluate how I can improve on things, just by watching how I translate visual images in my mind onto paper. First things first, my love/hate relationship with pencils is officially over! I used to see it as a messy medium (like chalk and pastels) but I decided maybe I should stop being a clean freak and get down and dirty. I wouldn’t say I use it as one of my main mediums but it’s extremely helpful when it comes to planning out a drawing… I know right, I’m years behind on training! It’s a little faint but I used pencil to plan the outline and the shading then used pen to define areas.Water colour paints were used to lightly add depth to the figure using the skin I would be using on photoshop.
FINISHED ! I was having a bit of fun, just to get back into the habit of painting and drawing.
Since it’s the last month of the year, I decided to play around with the art pieces I’ve done this year and create a range of collages having fun with different compositions while staying true to the concept of the series.
The art pieces used can be seen closely >here<
It all started when I did this drawing a few weeks ago, the original drawing I did had minimal make up and since I wanted to enhance the features I decided to darken the eyes using eyeliner and simple lipstick. When I finished I thought to myself “Well that was fun!” So I decided to play around with colours and styles that I’ve seen in magazines or in tutorials that some of my friends do and ended up with this! Ella December (who if you’re new to my blog, is a writer who I do illustrations for) is writing a new series known as Crossroads. I started working with photoshop on her story inspired by the music of Kanye West Blame Game but I was such an amateur on photoshop, all I knew how to do was colour in the skin, shade, brighten and create collages. Then there was Mimi memoirs, where I carried on doing the same thing but worked more on understanding skin tone and shadows. Now that I feel like there has been progress with colouring the skin, make up on the characters would definitely add more colour and make the image pop, just a little bit more.
The image above is the original promo image, I didn’t do too much with the make up because I wanted it to be very simple. The next couple of images are the characters without make up, with the promo make up and with fun make up.
From red to Ombre lips, I took inspiration from simply the colours of apples!
This character had subtle girly make up, so I decided to give her a darker more vampy look, using purple and gold. I was very much inspired by the musical Chicago, giving this lady a slick back, mature look, highlighting her cheekbones.I gave this lady a more Hollywood, 1960’s type heavy make up. But with a colourful twist, complementing her Burgundy/red hair with greens… I also had DC Universe’s Poison Ivy in mind!
When it comes to my development as a Photoshop user, I think I’m progressing, but only through playing around. I’m definitely having a lot of fun but one thing I want to work on is the hair of the characters. At the moment, I’m drawing them and then colouring them in, but I’m sure there’s a specific way to draw characters so that it’s photoshop friendly. I’m looking at comic books and gaming concept art especially to see how they edit their images. If anyone has advice for me or questions and if anyone can suggest any photoshop artists or comic books! Please let me know!
Thank you for taking the time in reading this post, hope you liked it and have a great day :)!
Happy New year!
I hope your holidays have been good to you! Last year was a great year and regarding my art work, I’ve been pushed to explore ideas and skills! Most of this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the feedback I’ve received from people and the work I’ve done through collaborations such as doing the art work for Ella December short stories. I feel like I’ve improved on the male body but in particular photoshop. I used to be so bad at using photoshop and playing around with different tools helped me to understand how to execute things. Another thing I never expected to do was directing videos and that wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the help of Nekuro who helped make my ideas and vision come to life, be sure to check out his work. I just wanted to put together a picture of all the art pieces I did last year (excluding the pieces with Agape and the women)!
